THE BRIEF

Marquette Properties is an asset owner, developer and project manager with commercial properties across Australia. We were engaged to build a new fitout for their flagship Brisbane headquarters, in the central business district. The vision from the company was clear, a professional office with high-quality finishes and discrete looks for each area of the large office. The client also wanted a separate area with the flexibility to be subleased or retained within the main space.

DESIGN

Interior designer Alex Machado fulfilled the client brief for a contemporary, professional office. Making the most of the office’s natural lighting and river views, we used high-end finishes with a mixture of different textures, providing elegance and a sense of heritage. The design remained consistent with the building through its bronze splashback and framing.

The client selected local designers to custom-make highlight furniture bespoke for the space.

CONSTRUCTION

We undertook the construction over an 11-week period, finishing just before Christmas on December 22. This schedule required effective project management and procurement to ensure all the long lead-time equipment was delivered on time, and we were able to complete the project before the holidays.

The finishes were of a high standard, including an exposed ceiling in the rear of the office, raked finish rendered walls, spotted gum veneer on the joinery and brass trims. The fitout included a public-facing area with a foyer and reception, a boardroom, four offices and 16 workstations, a kitchen, and breakout areas for collaboration.

THE OUTCOME

Marquette Properties’ headquarters is a fit-for-purpose corporate office, with flair. Its staff benefit from the flexible layout and natural light, as well as the views across the river and city. Striking designed pieces blend with the heritage appeal of the bronze-anodised aluminium and brass trims, integrating with the rest of the tower.

The sublease office is also ready for lease with contemporary appeal that meets the market.
